The Universe a Vast Electric Organism eBook George Woodward Warder
Although much of Warder's theories have been overtaken and overturned by modern analyses of space and stars, his basic contention, that the universe is electrical in nature, is still viable. But is it also spiritual? That knowledge is, of course, beyond our ken, but maybe only for the nonce.Product details

The Universe a Vast Electric Organism eBook George Woodward Warder Reviews
This is not a book but rather a thin paperback volume that contains an extraction of Chapter 1 from a book. Only the name of the author and ISBN number (no date or publisher page) references the original book. The chapter is only 18 pages long starting on page 11 and ending on page 28 of the original book. It is in a very thin large format paperback volume, after the 18 pages that contain printing, the remainder of the paperback version consists of about 25 blank pages.
I was hoping to read a well documented hypothesis. Instead, the content evidently written in 1923, is a stream of consciousness, a mixture of poorly understood scientific terms and religious assertions. Granted that in 1923 many scientific concepts were not as well understood as they are today, the mis-use of scientific terminology in this book could mis-lead those not familiar with science into thinking the chapter has merit. Today's solar terrestrial physics have disproven most of the concepts presented such as the sun is not hot.
The $22.00 I spent for the 18 pages of printing was a waste of money and waste of time reading it. This would be of value only to a historian who wants to document mistaken concepts and science fallacy in the early 1900s.
The theories that this book proposes look good at first sight. However, once I started to think about it, there was very little that looked reasonable any more. If there is so much free electricity moving around how come its effects are not observed much more frequently? The book decries the gravity based theories that abound neglecting the fact that observations confirming them abound. The book decries new proposals such as dark matter, dark energy, alternate universe etc as attempts of a cabal of desperate theoreticians. While conspiracies have been known to exist and there may be a few even in cosmology, given the kind of competition that exists among the researchers, I doubt if ANY avenue to publish breakthrough research will be left unexplored. Perhaps the problems lie with this theory itself. While I agree that there is electricity in the universe, the forces among electric charges are enormous, there does not seem to be much free charge around to be of as much consequence as gravity. Free electrons move with great speed and neutralize positive charges by binding with positive charges and neutralize the associated electric forces. Gravity, on the other hand, is the very property of matter, it is very weak and have never been known to be neutralized. It is like the tortoise that won the race against the electric hare.
I was hoping to learn some new things. I think I learned mostly wrong things.
good
For a book written at the turn of the 20th century, it explores a topic popular today. A reader needs to keep in mind that this book was written without the help of modern quantum physics. It helps the reader see the Universe from a different perspective.
This is such a breath of fresh air for science to be getting back to pure science, interdisciplinary cooperation, removal of ridiculous stigma, dogma and superstition! Science with proof, ah truth, it is so nice to see you still exist!
Although much of Warder's theories have been overtaken and overturned by modern analyses of space and stars, his basic contention, that the universe is electrical in nature, is still viable. But is it also spiritual? That knowledge is, of course, beyond our ken, but maybe only for the nonce.
